Egypt has launched and handed over its first industrial robot developed locally by Egyptian engineers and technology company Raed Bots, as the country pushes to expand domestic manufacturing and industrial automation.
The robot was developed through a collaboration between the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), Raed Bots and Qubee for use in industrial applications. It currently has an 80% local component ratio, with the developers targeting 90% after locally producing its motor.
Industry Minister Khaled Hashem said the project supports efforts to localise technology, improve industrial efficiency and strengthen Egypt’s manufacturing competitiveness. The ministry will work with Qubee to assess the robot’s performance in an operating industrial environment, according to the announcement.
The launch included a demonstration of the robot and an overview of its technical specifications. It was also followed by three cooperation agreements: between the IMC and Raed Bots for technical support at industrial facilities; between Raed Bots and Qubee for supplying robots for packaging machinery; and between Mansoura University’s Faculty of Engineering and Raed Bots for educational robots supporting student research and training.
IMC Executive Director Ayman Elbayaa said the initiative aims to connect innovation with practical industrial applications and encourage Egyptian manufacturers to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies.
