Oman has launched a National Fintech Strategy and the Oman Fintech Gate, a platform intended to help fintech companies enter the local market.
Led by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), the strategy was developed with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the Ministry of Finance’s Estidama programme, with contributions from other government bodies including Invest Oman.
The CBO will oversee implementation, while each participating authority will retain its own regulatory mandate. A governance framework will track progress and accountability.
The strategy aims to establish a proportionate regulatory environment for secure, customer-focused financial services, expand financial inclusion and attract fintech companies and investment to Oman. It also seeks to help Omani startups scale locally and internationally in line with Oman Vision 2040.
The Oman Fintech Gate, hosted on the Invest Oman platform, allows applicants to review regulatory requirements, complete the initial application stage and connect with relevant stakeholders. It serves as an entry point rather than a regulator, with assessments and decisions remaining with the CBO and FSA.
According to the CBO, the platform is intended to make market entry more transparent, predictable and efficient for local and international fintech companies.
