Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) have launched Dubai Mobility Labs at Dubai Silicon Oasis to test and certify autonomous and future mobility technologies.
The facility includes 248 testing scenarios across controlled environments and public roads extending to Al Qudra. It also features operational facilities and electric-vehicle charging infrastructure.
Dubai Mobility Labs has already hosted trials involving autonomous-driving technologies and vehicles developed by WeRide, Pony.ai and Tesla, according to the announcement.
RTA has appointed DEKRA to operate the facility for its first three years. The company will manage testing and facilities while supporting compliance with international safety standards and operational practices.
The lab supports Dubai’s Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to make autonomous trips account for 25% of all mobility journeys in the emirate by 2030. RTA said the facility is also intended to attract investment, specialised talent and technology developers.
DIEZ said Dubai Silicon Oasis offers an environment for developing and testing advanced technologies and moving them from trials toward commercial deployment.
