The National Council for Women’s Sharqia branch held 20 entrepreneurship training courses for 500 women and girls in villages covered by Egypt’s Hayah Karima initiative in Belbeis and Faqous.
The program ran from September 19 to 24, 2026, and focused on building the skills needed to launch and manage small and micro businesses. Participants came from villages including Balashon, Al Salam, Gheitah and Al Saadat in Belbeis, as well as Akayad Al Bahariya, Akayad Al Qibliya, Johaina Al Bahariya and Johaina Al Qibliya in Faqous.
Training covered how to select a suitable business based on available resources and local needs, prepare a simplified feasibility study, manage microenterprises and identify different financing methods.
Aida Attia, rapporteur of the council’s Sharqia branch, said the program supports the women’s economic empowerment pillar of Egypt’s national family development project and aims to bring training services to women and girls in Hayah Karima villages.
Sharqia Governor Hazem Al Ashmouni said supporting women’s economic participation and developing their skills could help improve living standards and create new income opportunities.
