Chinese AI company DeepSeek has made its TileLang software toolkit freely available to users developing artificial intelligence applications on Huawei Ascend chips, according to an announcement.

The release adds momentum to China’s effort to build a domestic AI technology stack and reduce reliance on Nvidia products. TileLang is positioned as a Chinese alternative to CUDA, Nvidia’s widely used platform for AI development.

The move also highlights DeepSeek’s growing collaboration with Huawei. Huawei supplies data centre accelerators, while DeepSeek develops open-weight AI models.

DeepSeek is planning a large data centre in Inner Mongolia using 160,000 Huawei accelerators. The company is also preparing to raise funding at a valuation of up to $74B, according to the announcement.

DeepSeek said the programming language is designed to make development easier and support the growth of AI research and applications in China. It also pointed to continued cooperation with Huawei as a way to improve performance and support local technology innovation.
