UAE-based artificial intelligence company AIQ has signed a contract to deploy 1 million cameras for an unnamed Indian oil and gas conglomerate, marking a major expansion beyond its home market.

The cameras will be installed across refineries, fuel stations and stores. According to AIQ chief executive Dennis Jol, the system will use CCTV and AI to read licence plates and identify operational needs, including which products require restocking at fuel stations and shops.

Around 5% of AIQ’s business currently comes from overseas customers, Jol said. The company began exporting its technology more than a year ago and is working in markets including Kazakhstan, Egypt, Colombia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Kuwait.

AIQ is a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Presight AI, part of G42. Founded in 2020, it develops AI systems for energy operations, with customers including SLB and Baker Hughes. The company also signed a $340 million deal in March 2025 to deploy its agentic AI across Adnoc’s operations.

AIQ does not publish financial results, but Jol said it is profitable and is considering acquisitions of technology companies. The company has also developed a new AI operating system, Genesis, and trained its systems on 40 petabytes of Adnoc data collected over 70 years.
