Legato Launches AI Hearing Glasses Starting at $999

Hearing technology startup Legato has launched its flagship Legato Frames, AI-powered glasses designed for adults with up to moderate hearing loss. The frames are available from $999.

The glasses integrate Legato’s patented hearing-assistance technology into the arms of the frames. According to the company, its AI system separates voices from background noise, amplifying speech while reducing unwanted sounds.

The open-ear glasses use a dual-speaker system that directs audio toward the wearer and limits sound leakage. Legato said the system reduces escaped sound by 99% just a few inches from the ear. Processing takes place on the glasses, with no cameras or recording.

Legato Frames weigh 34 grams with lenses and offer 10 to 12 hours of battery life. They come in three styles, support prescription lenses and can stream music and calls over Bluetooth.

The launch follows Legato’s emergence from stealth with $12 million in funding from Neotribe Ventures, Listen and Village Global. Founded in 2024 by Mehul Trivedi and Steve Romine, the startup is selling the glasses through its website and select U.S. eye care providers, where they are eligible for vision insurance coverage.
