Instagram Adds AI Video Assistant to Edits for Creator Insights

Instagram is adding a conversational AI video assistant to Edits, its video editing app, to help creators understand performance and make more informed content decisions.

According to the company, the assistant can analyze account metrics including follows, views, retention, likes and shares. It also combines that data with creator comments, Instagram trends and audience interests to identify patterns and offer actionable feedback.

Brett Westervelt, who leads Edits, said the tool was developed with input from creators who wanted help with analysis rather than automated creative work. The assistant is designed to handle the data review while leaving creative decisions to the user.

Meta first previewed the feature in June at an invite-only creator event, where it also discussed plans for an Edits desktop app. YouTube is developing a similar conversational video tool, but its planned product is expected to focus more directly on the editing process.

Usage of the Edits assistant will be limited, with additional access available through a Meta One subscription, according to the announcement.
