Six teams from Capital University have won a combined EGP 375,000 in funding and investment at the 2026 Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally, held at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
The competition brought together 41 Egyptian universities and 750 startup projects, according to the announcement. The results highlight the university’s student-led work across biotechnology, agriculture, local manufacturing, healthcare, and rescue and safety technologies.
The winning projects included EcoExtracts, which develops plant-based extracts to combat the red palm weevil; BioSilkNova, focused on sustainable proteins and biomaterials from silk fibers; and BioSpark, an Arabic content platform that makes biotechnology concepts easier to understand and connects academic knowledge with practical applications.
Tashkeel is a digital platform linking customers and designers with manufacturing workshops, while SitX uses sensors, vibration alerts, an airbag and a companion app to improve back posture. Najda is developing a smart life jacket with location tracking, vital-sign monitoring, immersion detection and satellite connectivity to support rescue efforts at sea.
The university said the achievement reflects its students’ ability to develop innovative ideas into projects with potential for practical application and growth.
