The final round of Egypt’s AI for Education Hackathon 2026 will take place on Tuesday, October 13, at Egypt University of Informatics in Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital. The competition offers seven prizes worth a combined EGP 450,000.

The hackathon attracted 600 participants, with 300 students and startup representatives reaching the final stage. It is held under the sponsorship of Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and organised by the university’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, alongside WE Innovate, Intel, EdVentures, Keheilan and the AI for Africa project, funded through the Horizon Europe alliance.

The competition has two tracks. The first is for university students and graduates developing AI-powered education prototypes. The second is for edtech startups, with teams of two to four members building new intelligent learning tools or improving existing products.

Focus areas include personalised multilingual learning, interactive assessment, Arabic and African-language educational content, and AI solutions supporting students with disabilities or limited internet access. Entries will be assessed on innovation, educational impact, technical execution, scalability in Egypt and Africa, and business model clarity.

According to the announcement, winners will also receive mentoring and incubation opportunities, recognition from GAINAfrica, priority access to EdVentures, and potential participation in an investor-facing demo day through Keheilan Asset Management. More than 1,200 people have taken part in related technical workshops and online training sessions.
