Zainab Hussain Nima, a doctoral researcher at Arabian Gulf University, has developed a framework for measuring innovation efficiency and university performance across higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Nima presented the work during a lecture titled “From Evidence to Efficiency: A Systematic Literature Review and Data Envelopment Analysis,” organised by the university’s Department of Innovation and Technology Management.
The proposed approach uses data envelopment analysis to assess university efficiency through indicators including sustainability. It was applied in a case study to examine institutional performance and support a more comprehensive understanding of efficiency levels.
The lecture also covered systematic literature reviews, including how researchers collect, classify and analyse previous studies to identify knowledge gaps and develop evidence-based research questions.
Arabian Gulf University said the session forms part of its efforts to strengthen research capabilities and encourage the use of scientific evidence in developing innovation and performance measurement practices in higher education.
The university’s current innovation student cohort includes leaders and professionals from several GCC countries and sectors, particularly education, supporting knowledge exchange and the application of innovation practices in institutional development.
