Tech for Palestine and ethical AI platform Thaura.ai will host a one-day hackathon in Barcelona on October 31, bringing together up to 100 engineers, creatives, strategists and observers to develop alternatives to complicit technology.
The event will take place from 9:00 to 19:00 at Canodrom as part of Mozilla Festival. Participants will work on one central challenge: making it easier for users to move from complicit technology to ethical alternatives.
Teams can build software platforms, mobile apps, browser plugins, migration tools, advisory services or advocacy campaigns. Organisers are looking for both a working prototype or campaign and a strategy covering validation, go-to-market execution and growth.
The day will include AI-assisted ideation and building with Thaura and other ethical tools, followed by five-minute team demos and a pitch competition. The strongest projects may receive support from the Tech for Palestine Incubator, which the organisation said has supported more than 90 projects to date.
Admission is free, with an optional $30 solidarity ticket. Attendees can join as engineers, creatives, strategists or observers, and should bring a laptop.
