The Jordanian Association for Agricultural Entrepreneurship and Innovation has held talks with China’s commercial attaché in Amman, Yongru Shang, and an accompanying delegation on expanding cooperation in agriculture, investment, innovation and agricultural technology.
Association president Imad Ayasreh highlighted previous training opportunities that allowed members to visit China and learn about its agricultural and technology practices. He said continued programs could help build the capabilities of Jordanian agricultural engineers, entrepreneurs and young people.
The association also presented its AgriTech Jordan incubator, which supports agricultural entrepreneurs and startups through training, incubation and connections to investment opportunities.
Board member Mutasem Al-Hiyari outlined agreements with Chinese institutions and companies, including Ningbo Polytechnic, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s demonstration base in Yangling, Beijing Holly-Cotec and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Platform. According to the announcement, the agreements cover training, technology, research, innovation and knowledge transfer.
The association said it wants to turn these agreements into practical programs and joint projects focused on smart agriculture, water-efficient irrigation, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, medicinal and aromatic plants, food processing and agricultural value chains.
Both sides also discussed partnerships linking Chinese companies with Jordanian entrepreneurs and investors, with the stated aim of supporting technology transfer, investment and job creation while addressing water scarcity, climate change and food security.
