AA Group has launched what it describes as Lebanon’s first insurance vehicle auction house, aiming to replace closed garage deals with open bidding for total-loss and salvage cars.
Founded in 2026 by 19-year-old Georgio Antypas, the company operates an auction platform connecting insurance companies with garages, body shops, car traders and individual buyers. The company said it has signed agreements with insurers and rents three plots to inspect, store and secure vehicles.
Under the model, an insurer sends a damaged car to one of AA Group’s lots, where the vehicle is inspected and assigned a reserve price. Buyers can view it in person, place a deposit and bid during an auction that typically runs for about two weeks. The highest bidder wins the vehicle.
AA Group said the approach gives insurers access to a wider pool of buyers, potentially improving sale prices and speeding up the process. Buyers, meanwhile, can inspect damaged vehicles locally instead of importing them and paying related taxes without seeing them first.
The company is based in Mkalles and Hazmieh. Antypas said his parents, Roy and Saada Antypas, supported the venture, while he continues his studies at AUB.
