Ain Shams University has held an Innovation Day to help students and researchers turn academic ideas into practical projects and startups.

Organised by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit at the Faculty of Women in partnership with the university’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, ASU-iHub, the event focused on the support available to aspiring founders and innovators.

A workshop led by Islam Adly, assistant professor at the Faculty of Science and director of the Innovation Clubs project, covered the center’s role in developing ideas, building business models, connecting projects with support organisations, and providing technical and financial assistance.

The session also highlighted GEMS-Tech, an EU-funded Erasmus+ project focused on ship engineering and sustainable technologies. Participants were introduced to a lab equipped with 3D printing, laser cutting, 3D scanning, virtual reality, and air and noise quality measurement tools for prototyping and testing.

Founders of Dentafolio and Wedja Solutions shared their experiences of moving from early concepts to operating ventures. They stressed the importance of understanding market needs, working across disciplines and developing ideas through continuous learning.

The event concluded with an open discussion on the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship support programs for students, researchers and faculty members.
