Amman Arab University has concluded the North Amman Entrepreneurship Hackathon, organised by the Erada Program in partnership with the university’s Centre for Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and several public and private-sector organisations.
The hackathon attracted 169 applicants, including university and institute students, graduates and entrepreneurs. Thirty participants advanced to a five-day training phase held on the university campus, where they took part in workshops aimed at developing their skills and turning ideas into viable projects.
Fourteen projects then reached the final stage and were assessed by specialised judging panels. The winning projects were announced and their teams recognised at the closing ceremony.
According to the announcement, the participating projects addressed challenges in North Amman through technology, agriculture, industry, transport and logistics, and environmental solutions.
Erada Program Director Sami Al-Olaimi said the hackathon would serve as a starting point for continued support, including mentoring, specialised consulting, feasibility studies, intellectual property assistance and connections with potential supporters and partners.
The event was supported by Plan International’s Ready for Tomorrow project, the Al Hussein Fund for Excellence and Creativity, Makerspace, VentureX, Dinarak, the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia Technology Center.
