The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport has concluded the sixth Rally Startup Festival at its new Al Burouj campus, bringing together participants from 41 universities and more than 750 projects.

Held as part of the academy’s strategic partnership with the National Bank of Egypt, the festival supports the Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally and provides university students with training, mentorship and opportunities to develop startup ideas. DROSOS and Plan International also supported the programs.

According to Heba El Ashry, director of the academy’s Entrepreneurship Center, 120 projects advanced to the semifinal stage of the 2026 Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally, while 18 reached the finals.

The academy’s own rally trained teams from 143 projects across its branches. Of these, 89 reached the semifinals and 24 projects from seven branches advanced to the final stage.

The Rally Society network now includes 48 student communities, with 13 reaching the finals. Separately, the “Ready for Tomorrow” project, delivered with Plan International, trained more than 1,000 young people. Seventy-two projects reached its final stage, with 22 set to receive financial grants.

Academy President Ismail Abdel Ghafar said stronger coordination between universities, banks, government, investors and entrepreneurship-support organisations is needed to help founders move from idea development to market entry.
