Core42 Scales US AI Infrastructure With 60MW New York Expansion

4 Min Read

Abu Dhabi-based Core42, a G42 company focused on sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure, has significantly increased its AI computing power in the United States. The company announced a 42MW expansion of its facility in Buffalo, New York, bringing the site’s total capacity to 60MW.

Quick Facts

  • Buffalo AI cluster capacity increased from 18MW to 60MW.
  • Adds NVIDIA and AMD hardware to existing infrastructure.
  • Part of a global network across the US, Europe, and Middle East.

Scaling a Global AI Footprint

The expansion at the Lake Mariner site in New York is a key part of G42’s ongoing capital investment into scaling its AI infrastructure across the United States. This move more than triples the facility’s AI production capacity, positioning it as a major North American hub within Core42’s global network.

The facility now incorporates both NVIDIA and AMD hardware, reinforcing the company’s heterogeneous infrastructure strategy. This design allows for workload optimization across different accelerator platforms. The site’s existing AMD-based “Maximus” cluster already holds the No. 20 spot on the global TOP500 list of supercomputers, demonstrating Core42’s capability in delivering high-performance AI systems.

From Abu Dhabi to Buffalo

Beyond its New York operations, Core42’s US footprint includes deployments in Dallas, Texas; Sunnyvale and Stockton, California; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. These sites, which include the Condor Galaxy supercomputers developed with Cerebras, create a distributed AI architecture across the country for both training and inference workloads.

“We are scaling our U.S. infrastructure in line with long-term deployment programs,” said Talal M. Al Kaissi, Chief Executive Officer of Core42. “Increasing our U.S. capacity at Lake Mariner strengthens our ability to serve hyperscale, AI-native and large enterprise workloads, and further extends the build out of our AI infrastructure globally.”

The Buffalo expansion is part of a wider international buildout. In 2025, Core42 established its European headquarters in Dublin and added AI compute capacity in Italy and France.

The AI Cloud Layer

Core42’s AI Cloud platform acts as the access layer to this distributed infrastructure, allowing customers to provision computing resources across different jurisdictions through a consistent operating model. The platform supports the full AI lifecycle, from large-scale model training to real-time inference, offering multiple hardware options to achieve optimal price-performance. With 10 operational sites globally and more planned for 2026, the company continues to build out the foundation for national and enterprise-scale AI.
