Switzerland-based CTS Group and Saudi clean energy and smart infrastructure company Desert Technologies have formed CTS-DT, a joint venture focused on developing AI-optimised data centre infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
Announced on the sidelines of LEAP 2026 in Riyadh, the venture will cover the design, development, construction and manufacturing of data centre solutions for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads. It will initially target 300 MW of annual capacity, with plans to scale to 1.2 GW per year.
CTS-DT also plans to establish an industrial and technology platform in the Kingdom, combining data centre engineering with local manufacturing capabilities. The companies said the infrastructure will be designed around the performance, reliability, flexibility and energy-efficiency needs of AI workloads.
Saudi Arabia will serve as the venture’s base for expansion into Middle Eastern and African markets. Desert Technologies said the partnership aims to support local AI infrastructure demand while helping develop and eventually export data centre technologies from the Kingdom.
The companies did not disclose investment values, project locations, construction timelines or the number of planned sites. The agreement was signed by Desert Technologies CEO Khalid Ahmed Sharbatly and CTS Group CEO Philippe Schelfhout.
