Dubai Startup MetisJean Launches Sovereign AIOS With $3M Pre-Seed Funding

Dubai-headquartered startup MetisJean has launched in the UAE with Jean, a sovereign artificial intelligence operating system designed to run within an organisation’s own infrastructure.

The company said Jean connects with internal applications, messaging systems and databases to learn how an organisation operates. It can then replicate code and workflows for repeat requests, reducing the need to send every query to an externally hosted large language model.

In internal benchmark tests conducted in a controlled environment, MetisJean said the system reduced token usage by 90%. The company said the results will be shared for peer review in a forthcoming whitepaper.

Jean is designed to use an organisation’s own data and inform users when it lacks the required information or access under role-based permissions. Founder and CEO Alex Haywood described the platform as a “white box” alternative that allows businesses to verify how conclusions are reached.

The AIOS operates in English and Arabic and is being targeted at UAE sectors with strict data residency and compliance requirements, including finance, healthcare, energy and government.

MetisJean said it raised $3M in pre-seed funding from founders and private investors. The startup is now seeking a further $5M from regional investors.
