In a significant move to bolster its startup ecosystem, the Egyptian government has launched “The Business Clinic,” a new initiative designed to create a direct communication channel between entrepreneurs and key government agencies. The program, run by the Egypt Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation under the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, aims to help founders navigate and resolve pressing operational and regulatory hurdles.

A Direct Line to Government for Founders
The initiative brings together officials from the Ministries of Finance, Investment, and Trade and Industry to directly address founder concerns. It acts as a follow-through on the “Startup Charter,” which was activated last month to strengthen the country’s entrepreneurial framework.
Dr. Ahmed Rustom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stated that The Business Clinic was launched to provide “effective and direct communication channels between startups and various government agencies.” He added, “This will contribute to quickly addressing the challenges facing entrepreneurs and facilitating the procedures that support the growth of their projects.”
Rustom emphasized the ministry’s focus on supporting startups, viewing them as a primary driver of economic growth and job creation in the country.
An Interactive Platform for Operational Hurdles
The Business Clinic is structured as an interactive platform where founders can present their challenges and receive immediate guidance from the relevant authorities. This hands-on approach is intended to streamline processes that often slow down a startup’s progress.
“The Business Clinic is an interactive platform that allows entrepreneurs to directly present the challenges they face and obtain the necessary support and guidance from competent government agencies,” explained Dr. Heba Zaki, Director of the Egypt Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Zaki confirmed that the sessions will be held regularly to tackle operational and regulatory issues, aiming to foster an environment conducive to investment and innovation in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
Founders Tackle Licensing, Taxes, and Expansion in First Session
The inaugural meeting saw high engagement from startup founders who raised a number of common pain points. Key topics included challenges related to company establishment procedures, licensing, tax transactions, and business expansion.
Representatives from the Egyptian Tax Authority, the General Authority for Investment (GAFI), and the Industrial Development Authority were present to field questions, offer clarifications, and guide entrepreneurs toward available support mechanisms. The goal was to provide actionable advice to help accelerate growth and ensure the long-term sustainability of their ventures.
