Egypt is preparing to launch a national “Youth Economy” project designed to increase young people’s participation in economic activity, connect them with investment opportunities and support local development.
The project was discussed by Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Johar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, according to the announcement. It will map the competitive advantages of Egypt’s governorates, identify promising sectors and track labor market needs.
The Planning Ministry said it will share updated governorate data, developed through its work on the “Decent Life” initiative and national economic and social development plans, in cooperation with Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
NI Capital and NI Consulting are expected to manage portfolios and funds and provide technical advice. The Egypt Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center will support youth capacity building, entrepreneurship and startups at different stages of growth.
The initiative will also seek to turn youth centers, sports facilities and youth cities into economic, investment and community platforms. These facilities could host entrepreneurship programs, digital and green economy activities, micro-projects and connections to financiers and investors.
Implementation is planned to begin with institutional preparations and pilot projects in selected governorates before expanding nationwide. The project will include a national database and digital dashboard to support decision-making and track performance.
