Egyptian fintech startup ElGameya has surpassed 1 million registered users, according to AUC Venture Lab.
The Cairo-based company digitizes the traditional gameya, or rotating savings and credit association (ROSCA), allowing users to join savings cycles, pay monthly installments digitally and receive their payouts through its mobile app.
ElGameya, which graduated from AUC Venture Lab’s Fall 2017 cohort, aims to make savings and financial planning more accessible through digital financial services. The company was founded in 2019 and lists its team size as 11 to 50 employees.
AUC Venture Lab described the milestone as a sign of ElGameya’s continued progress in expanding access to financial services through technology.
