Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) has signed a cooperation protocol with Port Said University to promote investment, entrepreneurship and training, while helping prepare students and graduates for the labour market.
The agreement was signed by Port Said University President Sherif Saleh and GAFI CEO Mohamed Awad, in the presence of Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid.
According to the announcement, the partnership will include training programmes, workshops, seminars and joint events covering investment and entrepreneurship concepts, company formation procedures and the services provided by GAFI. It will also focus on developing practical skills for students and graduates.
The protocol aims to encourage students and faculty members to engage with the entrepreneurship ecosystem and support people with innovative ideas and projects as they develop their concepts into viable economic activities.
Farid said stronger cooperation between universities and GAFI would improve awareness of investment opportunities, incentives and business procedures. He added that encouraging young people to launch businesses forms part of the ministry’s efforts to improve the investment environment, facilitate procedures and increase private-sector participation.
Port Said University said the partnership would help connect education with practical applications and market needs, while GAFI said it plans to expand collaboration with Egyptian universities.
