Egypt’s Investment Fund Assets Reach $9.3B After 14.7% Q2 Growth

Egypt’s investment fund industry grew 14.7% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026, with net assets reaching approximately $9.3B (EGP 470.9B) by the end of June, according to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).

Net assets rose by EGP 60.28B from the end of March. The market also added 15 funds during the quarter, bringing the total to 224 under the FRA’s updated classification, developed with the Egyptian Investment Management Association.

Assets denominated in Egyptian pounds stood at EGP 444.56B, while foreign currency-denominated assets reached the equivalent of EGP 26.41B. Total assets under management increased to about $9.5B, up from $8.3B in the first quarter.

Investor participation also climbed. Investment fund certificates reached a record 44.04B, up 40.16% from 31.42B three months earlier. Individuals held 74.7% of certificates, while institutions held 24.3%.

Sector funds recorded the strongest average return during the quarter at 18.82%, followed by thematic funds at 18.78%, index funds at 18.35% and equity funds at 17.45%.

The figures point to continued expansion in Egypt’s regulated investment funds market, supported by new products and rising participation from individual and institutional investors.
