A Mediterranean Push for a Sustainable Bee Economy

The PLANBEE project is a cross-border collaboration that brings together seven partners from Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine. With significant financial backing from the EU, the initiative aims to strengthen the bee economy as a driver for rural development, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation, and sustainable tourism throughout the Mediterranean region.

In Egypt, the program’s activities are focused on participants and organizations based in Cairo, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Dakahlia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, and Matrouh.

Training for a New Generation of Founders

The program is structured to cater to different experience levels. For newcomers without prior experience, the training utilizes innovative simulation tools and mixed-reality digital learning to provide a practical, interactive introduction to modern beekeeping. This track is designed for individuals looking to start a new career path, launch a small business, or explore a passion for sustainability.

A separate, specialized track is available for practicing beekeepers who want to advance their technical and management skills. This program emphasizes sustainable and organic beekeeping practices, eco-friendly hive management, and core business competencies. The curriculum focuses on developing entrepreneurial skills, strategic thinking, innovation, risk management, and identifying growth opportunities to help existing businesses improve their competitiveness and long-term viability.
