Google has expanded its Gemini Enterprise artificial intelligence platform with a new offering designed for lawyers and law firms.
Gemini Enterprise for Legal includes connections to legal software and data platforms, along with AI agents built to support specialised legal and administrative tasks. Google said the platform is intended to help firms handle routine and complex work while keeping data secure and confidential.
The offering can connect with platforms from Thomson Reuters, Harvey and LexisNexis, among others. Google said law firms will also be able to choose between AI models available through the platform.
Weil Gotshal, Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields and Williams & Connolly are among the firms collaborating with Google on the product. The company said the platform is being developed as legal practices increase their use of generative AI for research, drafting, case management and other operational work.
Google launched Gemini Enterprise for business customers in October. It also announced new industry-focused tools for financial services and said further sector-specific offerings would follow.
The move places Google in a growing competition for legal-sector AI business, alongside companies including Anthropic and Thomson Reuters, which recently introduced its own large language model for professional work.
