Egypt’s tech ecosystem has received a significant boost as the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global technology leader Ericsson. The partnership, signed under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, aims to accelerate the nation’s digital services sectors and advance its information and communications technology (ICT) capabilities.

A Strategic Push for Digital Offshoring

This collaboration is a key component of the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022–2026. It focuses on enhancing ICT technologies, expanding engineering and R&D capabilities, and generating new employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, highlighted that the agreement with Ericsson is part of a larger initiative involving 55 global and local companies that are expanding their investments in Egypt’s offshoring sector.
He emphasized that Egypt’s skilled talent pool, advanced digital infrastructure, and strategic geographic location make it a trusted global partner, enabling companies to deliver world-class digital services from Egypt to the world.

Fostering Talent and Innovation

The agreement outlines several joint initiatives designed to strengthen the local talent pipeline. These include programs for digital skills development, collaborative job fairs, and academic partnerships aimed at supporting students and graduates as they enter the tech workforce.

Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, noted that the MoU with Ericsson underscores the confidence global technology leaders have in Egypt’s vision and capabilities.

“Egypt has evolved from being a service destination into a strategic global partner in delivering high-value digital services,” El-Zaher stated.

A Commitment to Egypt’s Vision 2030

For Ericsson, the partnership reinforces its long-term commitment to the Egyptian market. The collaboration is set to foster local innovation and accelerate the deployment of 5G technology across the country.

Kevin Murphy, President of Ericsson North Middle East, affirmed that the collaboration strengthens Ericsson’s long-standing partnership with Egypt. He expressed commitment to fostering innovation, developing local talent, and accelerating digital transformation in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030.
