The Jordanian Entrepreneurship Fund has called for greater focus on attracting regional and global investors that can provide startups with market access, expertise and strategic support, not just capital.
The fund’s CEO, Mohammed Al-Muhtaseb, made the comments during an entrepreneurship event in Amman hosted by Saudi venture capital firm Vision Ventures. Held under the theme “Building a Billion-Dollar Startup from Jordan?”, the event brought together founders, entrepreneurs and technology and business experts.
According to the announcement, the event formed part of Vision Ventures’ support for Jordanian entrepreneurs through guidance, knowledge-sharing and mentoring. It also highlighted the firm’s strategic partnership with the Jordanian Entrepreneurship Fund, one of its key investors.
Al-Muhtaseb said Vision Ventures has invested in four Jordanian startups so far, describing it as an example of an investor that contributes practical knowledge alongside funding.
Vision Ventures co-founder and CEO Qais Al-Essa said investors assess founders and teams before ideas, looking for passion, adaptability and the ability to execute and test products quickly. He added that startups targeting billion-dollar valuations need evidence of real market demand, large target markets and a regional expansion strategy from an early stage.
The event also focused on entering new markets, adapting products to local customer needs and building partnerships that support cross-border growth.
