The Hashemite University and GIZ Jordan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen women’s participation in green jobs and better align higher education with the demands of the labor market.

Bridging the University-to-Industry Gap
The collaboration addresses a key challenge in Jordan’s growing green economy: the underrepresentation of women in technical and environmental roles. The initiative seeks to create stronger links between academic institutions and private sector employers, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the relevant skills for emerging industries.
This partnership is part of two regional GIZ projects: “Gender Responsive and Inclusive Politics and Economy in the MENA Region” (WoMENA) and “Green Action in Enterprises” (GAIN). Both projects are commissioned by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and are designed to foster inclusive economic growth.
A New Summit for Green Opportunities
At the core of the new partnership is the launch of the Women in Green Jobs Summit, hosted at The Hashemite University. The summit is designed to act as a central platform connecting students and entrepreneurs with the private sector and development partners.
By providing a dedicated space for networking, mentorship, and industry exposure, the summit aims to unlock tangible career pathways for young women looking to enter sectors from renewable energy to sustainable agriculture. The goal is to build a more inclusive green transition where skills development and economic opportunity go hand in hand.
