LexisNexis has begun rolling out Lexis+ with Protégé, its legal AI platform, across the Middle East and North Africa, starting with the UAE.
The platform supports legal research, analysis and drafting. Lawyers can ask questions in plain language and receive answers based on LexisNexis sources, while larger assignments such as due diligence can be divided into reviewable steps.
Users can also draft contracts and memos, upload documents to identify key issues and create timelines, and translate or summarise case decisions in Arabic and English. The company said customer data is not used to train public AI models.
The platform includes UAE federal law, laws from all seven emirates, regulations and case decisions. According to LexisNexis, its regional relevance comes from the mix of federal and emirate laws, free-zone rules, and civil-law and common-law systems across MENA.
Local legal professionals helped develop and test the platform. LexisNexis said it is continuing those tests and plans to release validated regional performance data as it becomes available.
The launch comes 16 years after LexisNexis introduced its first legal research product in the region. Lara Salem, the company’s head of content strategy for the Middle East, said the platform is designed to provide jurisdiction-specific answers and support legal workflows. CEO Eric Bonnet-Maes said MENA is increasingly applying AI in professional environments.
