The partnership introduces a two-way referral mechanism, connecting eligible MBRIF-backed startups with DFDF’s fund manager network while opening MBRIF programmes to eligible DFDF portfolio companies.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF) has partnered with the Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF) to expand growth opportunities for startups and strengthen connections across the UAE’s innovation ecosystem.
Under a memorandum of understanding announced on 24 September 2026, the two organisations will establish a two-way referral mechanism. Eligible MBRIF members will be screened for introductions to DFDF’s network of fund managers, potentially helping them access institutional capital as they grow.
In return, eligible companies in DFDF’s portfolio will be referred to MBRIF to explore relevant programmes, support instruments and federal support channels.
The organisations clarified that introductions to DFDF or its fund manager network do not guarantee investment from DFDF or any fund in its portfolio.
Connecting federal and Dubai-level support
The partnership aims to make it easier for founders to access the networks, expertise and resources relevant to their next stage of development.
“Founders should not have to navigate federal and Dubai-level support separately,” said Nader Albastaki, Managing Director of DFDF. He added that the collaboration would give MBRIF-backed companies a route into DFDF’s fund manager network while helping eligible DFDF portfolio companies access MBRIF support.
Fatima Yousif Alnaqbi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Finance and the ministry’s representative at MBRIF, said the partnership would strengthen collaboration between federal and emirate-level institutions and support a more integrated national innovation ecosystem.
The initiative aligns with the ambitions of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the We the UAE 2031 vision, which seek to advance competitiveness, innovation and sustainable economic growth.
