Meeza and Microsoft have launched a sovereign private cloud service for Qatari enterprises, combining Microsoft’s Azure Local technology with Meeza’s data centers, telecommunications infrastructure and managed services.
According to Qatar News Agency, the platform will be hosted in Qatar. Microsoft will provide the Azure Local technology, while Meeza will handle local infrastructure, connectivity, deployment and ongoing support. The setup is designed to give organizations more control over where their data and workloads are stored while retaining an Azure-consistent management environment.
The service will support hybrid cloud deployments, allowing customers to run selected workloads in Meeza-hosted environments and connect them to Microsoft’s public Azure services according to their security, operational and regulatory needs.
Meeza’s network will also support business continuity and disaster recovery, including the replication and restoration of eligible workloads between local Azure Local environments and Azure. Government entities will be able to access eligible workloads through Meeza’s connection to Qatar’s government network without routing traffic over the public internet.
The offering is aimed at government agencies, regulated industries and organizations handling sensitive or mission-critical workloads. The companies said it is intended to support Qatar’s digital transformation and growing demand for infrastructure that combines cloud and AI adoption with data sovereignty, security and operational control.
