Egypt’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) is set to launch the second edition of its “Qitar Al Khair” (Train of Goodness) initiative, a nationwide tour designed to bolster entrepreneurship during the month of Ramadan. The program, organized in collaboration with Bankers Lounge, will traverse 22 governorates, aiming to connect with thousands of citizens and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Fostering a Culture of Entrepreneurship
The initiative will feature a series of developmental seminars led by senior officials from MSMEDA and executives from major Egyptian banks, including Al Ahli Bank, Housing and Development Bank, Suez Canal Bank, and the Agricultural Bank of Egypt.
Bassel Rahmy, CEO of MSMEDA, emphasized the initiative’s strategic importance in reaching young people, job seekers, and existing small business owners seeking to expand. “This initiative is crucial for reaching youth and citizens looking for job opportunities or wishing to establish small or micro enterprises,” Rahmy stated. He added that the program aims to educate attendees on available financing mechanisms, non-financial support services, and the various legal incentives offered by the state to support the SME sector.
Strategic Collaboration and Outreach
The collaboration with banking media personality Emad Qattara is a key component of the initiative’s strategy. Rahmy praised Qattara’s extensive experience in the banking and finance sectors, highlighting his ability to facilitate effective dialogue between young entrepreneurs and the financial institutions that can support them. This partnership is designed to cultivate a stronger culture of self-employment and encourage entrepreneurial ventures.
Emad Qattara affirmed the importance of the program, noting that direct engagement is vital for understanding the needs of aspiring entrepreneurs. “Opening a direct dialogue with the public is essential to identify their needs and requirements for entering the world of freelancing and to showcase the extensive support provided by the state, MSMEDA, and Egyptian banks to this vital economic sector,” he commented.
Tangible Support for Aspiring Founders
The “Qitar Al Khair” tour is more than an awareness campaign; it offers tangible resources for attendees. Rahmy has invited all interested youth and citizens to participate in the events to learn about MSMEDA’s services, which include free training courses designed to equip them with the skills needed to launch and manage a small business successfully.
Furthermore, the seminars will provide detailed presentations on the specific investment opportunities available within each governorate, with a particular focus on industrial and production-based projects. This approach encourages local entrepreneurs to leverage regional resources and natural advantages to build productive enterprises. To further incentivize attendance, participating banks will be providing thousands of in-kind gifts to attendees.
