A Marketplace for Local Growth
The festival brings together approximately 30 exhibitors, including farm owners, agricultural nurseries, productive families, artisans, and SMEs supported by Riyada. This provides a direct marketing and sales channel for local varieties of dates, mangoes, and related products, connecting producers directly with consumers.
The core objective is to energize Madha’s local economy by encouraging the development of new projects, creating job opportunities, and offering tangible support to the region’s agricultural sector. The event also highlights the work of local craftspeople, recognizing their role in preserving Oman’s traditional heritage.
Cultivating Future Agri-preneurs
A key feature of the festival is the “Little Farmer” corner, an interactive workshop designed to teach children the fundamentals of planting and caring for palm and mango seedlings. This initiative aims to instill an early interest in agriculture among the younger generation.
In a more strategic move, the festival is introducing a plan to establish a new “Agricultural Association.” This proposed entity will be managed by local residents and is designed to create sustainable markets for the wilayat’s agricultural output, with profits directly benefiting the farmers. The long-term goal is to position Madha as a significant agricultural and tourism destination.
To further promote the region, the festival is organizing daily bus tours from the event site to Madha’s green oases, allowing visitors to explore the local groves and learn about the historic falaj irrigation systems.
