Palestine’s Green Forward Working Group Convenes To Advance Circular Economy Policy

3 Min Read

Flow Accelerator, in partnership with the international non-profit SPARK, has successfully convened the first official meeting of the Green Forward Working Group in Ramallah. Held under the auspices of the Palestinian Ministry of Labor, the session gathered 60 high-level stakeholders to establish a roadmap for the development of Palestine’s green and circular economy. The initiative represents a structured effort to align government policy with private sector innovation to foster sustainable economic growth in the region.

Multi-Sector Collaboration For Sustainable Growth

The working group brought together a diverse assembly of representatives from government ministries, academia, business support organizations, and international donor agencies. This collaborative framework is designed to identify systemic challenges within the local market and co-develop policy recommendations across six priority areas. By engaging semi-governmental bodies and funding entities, the program ensures that the transition to a circular economy is supported by both regulatory clarity and financial viability.

Strategic Policy Development Under The Green Forward Programme

The meeting marks the beginning of a rigorous, multi-stage process under the Green Forward Programme. Following the initial identification of hurdles, stakeholders will work to refine policy recommendations through ongoing validation sessions. This meso-level intervention aims to create a more resilient innovation infrastructure in Palestine, enabling local startups and established firms to adopt sustainable practices that meet international environmental standards.

Funding And Regional Impact

The Green Forward Programme is funded by the European Union and implemented as part of a broader strategy to foster green economic transitions within the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood. By focusing on the circular economy, the program seeks to create new job opportunities for Palestinian youth in high-growth sectors while reducing the environmental footprint of local industries. The partnership between Flow Accelerator and SPARK highlights the importance of combining local ecosystem expertise with international development resources to achieve long-term economic stability.
