In a strategic move to foster a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem, Palestine’s Ministry of Labor is collaborating with business accelerator Flow and international NGO SPARK to develop national policies that support the green and circular economies. The partnership aims to create a robust framework for sustainable ventures and generate high-quality employment opportunities.
Forging A National Strategy
The collaboration was solidified during a meeting between Minister of Labor, Dr. Inas Al-Attari, Flow’s CEO Majd Khalifa, and SPARK’s Palestine Country Manager, Dina Masa’id. Dr. Al-Attari emphasized the importance of regulating the entrepreneurship sector through clear policies that define roles and integrate various initiatives.
“Entrepreneurship is a fundamental lever for economic development, especially in promising sectors linked to the green economy,” stated Dr. Al-Attari. She affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the ecosystem in alignment with national priorities and labor market demands.
As part of the agreement, the Ministry of Labor will serve as the primary reference body for developing and linking green and circular economy policies with the broader entrepreneurship landscape to maximize economic and employment impact.
Public-Private Synergy For Sustainable Growth
Both Flow and SPARK highlighted the need for a unified national strategy to guide the transition toward a green economy. Dina Masa’id stressed the importance of involving governmental bodies in relevant programs to ensure their sustainability and developmental impact.
Majd Khalifa echoed this sentiment, calling for an applicable national policy for the green economy. She expressed the accelerator’s desire for the Ministry of Labor to play a pivotal role in leading these policies and effectively connecting them to the startup sector.
The discussion also addressed the key challenges facing green economy projects in Palestine, concluding that an integrated effort between business support organizations and government entities is essential for creating effective solutions.
This initiative is part of the European Union’s “Green Forward” program, which is implemented in Palestine through the partnership between SPARK and Flow to support the circular and green economy in the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood region.
