Qatar’s Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council has highlighted 38 recipients of the 13th cycle of its Graduate Sponsorship Research Award (GSRA), showcasing research aimed at addressing national challenges.
The researchers are working across areas including artificial intelligence, healthcare, cybersecurity, sustainability, energy and the environment. Their projects range from improving cancer diagnosis with multimodal AI and building an Arabic everyday AI assistant to detecting cyber threats, supporting postpartum mental health and stabilizing renewable-integrated power systems.
Other projects focus on making websites more accessible and sustainable, removing antibiotic resistance from wastewater, improving cybersecurity behavior in government and advancing sustainable 3D concrete printing.
According to the announcement, energy and environmental research represented 68% of successful application areas, followed by information and communication technology at 46%, biomedicine and health at 33%, and social sciences, arts and humanities at 34%.
The award recipients include researchers and professionals affiliated with institutions such as Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the University of Doha for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense. The council said the research is contributing to solutions that can shape Qatar’s future.
