Saudi Arabia’s Riyada Vision Association has partnered with Net Zero, a venture from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s Sidra program, to launch the “Green Impact Entrepreneurship” initiative. The agreement, signed by the association’s Chairman HRH Prince Fahd bin Mansour bin Nasser Al Saud and Net Zero co-founder Dr. Mohammed Al-Sheikh, aims to create a national framework that encourages businesses, entrepreneurs, and donors to actively pursue sustainable environmental goals, directly supporting the Saudi Green Initiative.
Quick Facts
- New “Green Impact Entrepreneurship” initiative launched.
- Aims to digitize and document environmental contributions.
- Features four competitive tracks with national awards.
A National Model for Digital Sustainability
The initiative is designed to transform environmental practices from abstract goals into documented achievements. By creating a national model that connects environmental contributions with digital measurement and reporting, the program seeks to catalyze positive competition among Saudi Arabia’s private sector. The core objective is to provide a clear, transparent system for companies and individuals to track their impact, aligning their efforts with the Kingdom’s broader sustainability targets.
Gamifying Green Impact with National Awards
To foster engagement, the initiative introduces four distinct competitive tracks, each with its own national award named after local trees:
- Talh Medal: For donors and companies focused on corporate social responsibility.
- Ghaf Medal: For incubators and business accelerators.
- Sidr Medal: For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
- Samar Medal: For individual entrepreneurs.
This tiered system is structured to build a culture of sustainability and positive competition across different segments of the business ecosystem.
Incentives and Tech-Driven Transparency
Participants in the “Green Impact Entrepreneurship” initiative will receive a package of incentives, including digital medals and certificates. Their contributions will also be highlighted on the initiative’s electronic platform. Net Zero’s digital technologies will be used to document tree planting and measure the resulting environmental impact, adding a layer of transparency and credibility to all participating environmental projects. Both parties described the agreement as a strategic move to empower the entrepreneurship sector to contribute meaningfully to sustainability, combining innovation with community action.
