Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has transferred its significant stake in US videogame publisher Take-Two Interactive to its dedicated gaming and esports subsidiary, Savvy Games Group. The move, disclosed in a recent regulatory filing, consolidates the Kingdom’s extensive gaming investments under a single, specialized entity.

The stake, comprising approximately 11 million shares, was valued at just under $3 billion, positioning the PIF as Take-Two’s second-largest shareholder prior to the transfer.

Strategic Consolidation

This internal transfer is a strategic maneuver designed to streamline the management of Saudi Arabia’s growing portfolio in the global gaming industry. By placing the substantial shareholding under the direct control of Savvy Games Group, the PIF is empowering its specialist arm to drive a cohesive, long-term strategy in one of the world’s fastest-growing entertainment sectors.

The move centralizes decision-making and aligns the investment with Savvy’s mandate to grow the gaming and esports ecosystem both locally and internationally.

A Major Play in Global Gaming

The transfer underscores the scale of Saudi Arabia’s ambitions in gaming. Take-Two Interactive is the publisher behind some of the industry’s most valuable intellectual property, including the highly anticipated “Grand Theft Auto VI.”

By consolidating this key shareholding within Savvy, the Kingdom solidifies its influence and financial interest in the future success of major global gaming franchises, positioning itself to capitalize on milestone releases and industry growth.
