Building a Billion-Pound Foundation
Sohag University is backing its entrepreneurial ambitions with serious capital. Dr. Hassan Al-Nuamani, President of the University, announced the development of a new international sports hall at the university’s new campus, with a cost exceeding EGP 1 billion.
Al-Nuamani stated that the facility is designed to be among the top five Olympic halls globally that meet international standards and regulations. This project is part of an integrated sports complex that also includes a semi-Olympic swimming pool and multiple sports courts, positioning the university as a major athletic hub.
Fostering a New Wave of Entrepreneurs
The initiative is driven by the university’s strategy to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among its students. “We are keen on supporting the culture of entrepreneurship among students, as it is one of the main pillars for promoting innovation and creating real job opportunities,” Al-Nuamani explained. He stressed the importance of aligning the educational process with the labor market’s requirements, particularly in the sports fields which are seeing growing investment opportunities.
The “Entrepreneurship in the Sports Field” seminar, organized by the Faculty of Sports Science, serves as a key component of this strategy. Dr. Moamen Abdel Aziz, Dean of the Faculty, said the event is part of a plan to develop students’ skills and prepare them for the job market. The focus is on teaching the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and the mechanics of turning ideas into viable projects.
Dr. Mamdouh El-Sayed, the faculty’s Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that such events help spread a culture of self-employment and encourage innovation in a rapidly evolving sports sector.
