Tanta University’s Faculty of Medicine in Egypt has officially launched “Medical Sharks,” a student platform designed to encourage entrepreneurship and support the creation of startups and small businesses.
The platform was introduced during the faculty’s first scientific student conference, held on August 13 and 14, 2026, at the New Conference Hall. The event was opened by Tanta University Vice President for Education and Student Affairs El-Sayed El-Agouz and Faculty of Medicine Dean Mohamed Hantيرة, who also chairs the university hospitals’ board.
Organised by the faculty’s student union and the “Students for Egypt” group, in cooperation with TSRA, SPOT and TSSA, the conference brought together students from different academic years.
Its programme included nine scientific sessions and a workshop on scientific research led by faculty members and students. Topics covered research fundamentals and ethics, volunteering, medical specialisations and career planning, artificial intelligence applications in medicine, and the professional and life skills needed for doctors.
The launch adds an entrepreneurship-focused initiative to the faculty’s wider student activities, with Medical Sharks intended to help students explore startup and small-business ideas, according to the announcement.
