Tunisia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem currently includes around 825,000 entrepreneurs, according to Yassine Gouiaa, president of the National Organisation of Entrepreneurs (ONE). The figure is expected to surpass 1 million in 2027, driven largely by continued growth in small businesses.
Gouiaa said the number of small businesses could increase by 10% to 15% next year. These companies are seen as a key part of Tunisia’s entrepreneurial base and the wider national economy, while their presence across the country may also help limit the emigration of skilled professionals.
Services account for the largest share of entrepreneurial activity, particularly training, technology consulting, healthcare and education. Agriculture ranks second, followed by industry.
The Tunisian Solidarity Bank is supporting young entrepreneurs through financing lines and technical assistance, while public and private training centres are working to provide skills aligned with labour market needs.
ONE also launched a training programme this month for 100 Tunisian women entrepreneurs focused on e-commerce and artificial intelligence applications, in partnership with ESCWA and Tunisia’s Ministry of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly.
The organisation is preparing the ONE Business Forum for December 2026, which is expected to bring together about 5,000 entrepreneurs, with participation from entrepreneurs from Algeria and Libya. ONE is also conducting a survey across Tunisia’s 24 governorates to identify entrepreneurs’ priorities ahead of the 2027 finance law.
