The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Raedat for Information Technology to establish a joint framework aimed at accelerating entrepreneurship and innovation in the Kingdom. This collaboration is designed to support Bahrain’s Vision 2050 by bridging the gap between academic learning and the practical demands of launching a startup.

Quick Facts

  • Strategic MoU to support student-led startups.
  • Focus on mentorship, market validation, and commercialization.
  • Aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Bridging Academia and the Startup Scene

The partnership, signed by UTB President Dr. Hasan Al-Mulla and Raedat CEO Obaidli Al-Obaidli, lays out a roadmap to bolster the outcomes of student-led ventures. The core of the collaboration is to provide direct support to student projects from their earliest stages, offering guidance on market readiness, commercial viability, and securing necessary business permits.

This initiative will also integrate practical, market-focused components into UTB’s existing entrepreneurship development program. The goal is to equip students with the tangible skills needed to move from concept to a commercially successful enterprise, strengthening Bahrain’s overall innovation ecosystem.

Dr. Hasan Ali Al-Mulla affirmed that the agreement reflects the university’s firm commitment to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship. He emphasized the importance of providing students with the skills required to succeed in a knowledge-based economy.

Building a Founder-Focused Infrastructure

Beyond mentorship, the agreement explores the possibility of establishing a specialized center for innovation incubators and business creation. This would provide a structured environment for nurturing promising student ideas.

The collaboration will also introduce intensive training courses on creativity, innovation, and emerging tech sectors. A key benefit for UTB students will be direct access to Raedat’s extensive network of partners, mentors, and technology experts, providing an invaluable resource for aspiring founders.

Obaidli Al-Obaidli stated that the cooperation marks a significant step toward empowering youth and women entrepreneurs in Bahrain. He added, “We will work together to transform ambitious ideas into real projects that drive sustainable economic growth.”
