Lebanese SMEs in Agri-Food Sector Invited to Apply for Green Transition Grants

Lebanese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) interested in financing their green transition are invited to express their interest in the Resource Efficiency & Circularity Grants. The program, funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is designed to help eligible SMEs acquire the necessary equipment to enhance sustainability.


Program Overview and Mission

The grant program’s mission is to support industrial SMEs within Lebanon’s food and beverage value chain in their transition to more sustainable operations. The initiative provides crucial financial support for companies to invest in new technologies and equipment that improve resource efficiency, helping them reduce costs, increase competitiveness, and contribute to a greener economy.


Who Should Apply? (SME Eligibility)

The program is looking for Lebanese SMEs that meet the following criteria:

  • Are an industrial SME with an annual turnover under €50 million and up to 250 employees (or 500 in exceptional cases).
  • Are a majority locally and privately owned company.
  • Operate in the food and beverage value chain (excluding prohibited sectors).
  • Have been operating for at least 2 years with solid growth potential.
  • Have a committed management team ready to implement resource efficiency projects.

Project Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for grant funding, the proposed project must:

  • Involve the installation or replacement of equipment that enhances resource efficiency (e.g., energy, water, materials).
  • Have a total project cost between €70,000 and €250,000.
  • Utilize equipment and suppliers listed on the Green Technology Selector (GTS) platform.
  • Use suppliers who are registered and operating in Lebanon.

Application Deadline: The deadline to complete the initial expression of interest survey is September 5, 2025.
