startAD, the Abu Dhabi-based global tech ecosystem powered by NYU Abu Dhabi, has opened applications for its AI for Good Sandbox, a 4-week competitive AI Builder Challenge. The program, supported by
Google.org, is designed to empower students, researchers, and innovators across the MENA region to build open-source AI solutions for urgent health and social equity challenges in the UAE and KSA.
Program Overview and Mission
The AI for Good Sandbox is a competitive program where teams will develop and present AI solutions aimed at enhancing health and well-being outcomes for vulnerable communities. The mission is to leverage Abu Dhabi’s position as a growing tech hub to solve tangible regional problems. The challenge will run in two separate four-week cohorts, culminating in an in-person Final Pitch Day in the UAE where the top teams will showcase their open-source solutions.
What Participants Will Receive
This program provides a unique opportunity to build AI solutions for real-world impact. Participants will get:
- Up to $15,000 in funding for each of the 3 winning teams.
- Hands-on mentorship from global AI and industry experts.
- Exclusive access to resources, including the Google Cloud Skills Boost platform, which offers online learning, labs, and skill badges for cloud technologies.
- Covered travel and accommodation to attend the in-person Final Pitch Day in the UAE.
