Global Ride-Hailing App InDrive Launches Services In Riyadh

2 Min Read

Global mobility and urban services platform inDrive has officially launched its ride-hailing service in Riyadh, marking the company’s expansion into a second city in Saudi Arabia. The move signals increased competition in the Kingdom’s transportation sector and introduces a unique pricing model to the capital’s commuters.

A Unique Fare Negotiation Model

Unlike conventional ride-hailing platforms with algorithm-based pricing, inDrive operates on a “Realtime Deals” model. This feature empowers both riders and drivers by allowing them to negotiate fares directly within the app. Riders propose a fare for their desired trip, and nearby drivers can then choose to accept, decline, or counter the offer. This peer-to-peer approach aims to create a more transparent and mutually agreeable pricing structure for every ride.

Competitive Landscape in the Kingdom

InDrive’s entry into Riyadh intensifies the competition in a market with established players. To attract drivers to its platform, the company has stated that its service fees are two to three times lower than typical industry rates, potentially offering higher earnings for drivers. This expansion follows inDrive’s established presence in other MENA markets, including Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria, as it continues to grow its footprint across the region.
