Amazon, in a landmark partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), has officially launched its first fulfillment center in the UAE capital. The new facility, located in the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), is designed to significantly advance the emirate’s logistics capabilities, accelerate delivery speeds, and empower thousands of local entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to thrive in the digital economy.

The site was inaugurated by a delegation of senior officials, including His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), and His Excellency Badr Al-Olama, Director General of ADIO.

“The launch of Amazon’s first Fulfilment Center in Abu Dhabi marks a significant milestone in our strategic partnership,” said His Excellency Badr Al-Olama. “Through ADIO’s collaboration with Amazon, we are not only creating opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises, we are also strengthening the advanced logistics and digital commerce ecosystem in Abu Dhabi.”

Enhancing The E-commerce Ecosystem

The state-of-the-art fulfillment center leverages Amazon’s advanced automation to enable same-day delivery across a wide range of products for customers throughout the UAE. With a massive storage capacity of up to 8 million units, the facility is a major boost for sellers. Nearly half of the center is dedicated to entrepreneurs and SMEs using the Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) service, allowing them to leverage Amazon’s world-class storage, picking, packing, and shipping infrastructure to scale their businesses online.

A Hub for Innovation and Sustainability

Aligned with ADIO’s vision to foster innovation, the fulfillment center houses an Innovation Lab where new technologies are developed and refined. To date, the lab has achieved a 93% success rate across over 500 tests, successfully reducing process lead times by 59%. The facility also features analytics-driven processes to reduce consumption, underscoring Amazon’s commitment to embedding sustainable practices across its operations.

Strengthening Public-Private Collaboration

The project’s success is built on strong collaboration between public and private sector entities, including efficient clearance processes facilitated by Abu Dhabi Customs and the strategic location within KEZAD.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, commented: “This new fulfilment centre represents a step forward in our long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Through our partnership with ADIO, we are leveraging Amazon’s expertise and technology capabilities to support the UAE’s digital economy, while empowering local businesses with the tools and infrastructure they need to succeed online and support customers.”
