Space42 Partners With Autonomous A2Z To Commercialize Driverless Tech Across MENA

4 Min Read

Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered space technology company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with South Korea’s leading autonomous driving company, Autonomous A2Z. The agreement, announced at GITEX Global 2025, will establish an Abu Dhabi-based joint venture to deploy and commercialize Level-4 autonomous driving solutions throughout the Middle East and Africa, marking a significant step in localizing advanced autonomous capabilities.

A National Ecosystem for Autonomous Innovation

The joint venture aims to anchor a national ecosystem for autonomous mobility, supporting the UAE’s Smart Autonomous Systems Council’s mission. By integrating intelligent fleets and cultivating local expertise, the partnership is set to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability for cities and businesses. The collaboration seeks to transition the UAE from successful pilot programs to the widespread operational deployment of scalable autonomous mobility technology.

Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42, stated, “The UAE is rapidly advancing towards a new era of intelligent transport. Cross market collaboration facilitates knowledge-sharing, integral to realizing the nation’s ambitions in autonomous mobility. By joining forces with A2Z, we are paving the way for local innovation, technological advancement, and sovereign capability in one of the most transformative sectors of our time.”

Jihyeong Han, CEO of Autonomous A2Z, added, “Having demonstrated our Level-4 autonomous technology as the official operator for APEC 2025, we are now extending this proven expertise to the Middle East. Through our collaboration with Space42, we aim to support the UAE’s national vision for smart and autonomous mobility.”

Synergies in Smart Mobility Infrastructure

The partnership will create powerful synergies by integrating Space42’s Sovereign Mobility Cloud with Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) infrastructure. This integration is designed to enable seamless connectivity, real-time decision-making, and secure data exchange between autonomous fleets and urban systems. Ultimately, this will drive the commercial rollout and scalable adoption of sustainable autonomous mobility, reinforcing the UAE’s standing as a regional hub for smart transport innovation.

Building on a Track Record of Success

This venture builds upon an existing partnership between the two companies and is part of Space42’s broader investment in the UAE’s smart mobility landscape. Space42 recently launched the Sovereign Mobility Cloud, an AI-enabled infrastructure for mapping, fleet operations, and traffic management, and has also partnered with Dynamic Map Platform and General Motors to enhance autonomous driving systems.

Since 2021, Space42’s TXAI robotaxi service has logged nearly 600,000 kilometers of autonomous driving and completed 20,000 passenger trips without incident. The service now operates across Saadiyat, Yas, Al Maryah, and Al Reem Islands, as well as Abu Dhabi Airport.
