His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the sixth edition of Arab Hope Makers, the largest initiative of its kind in the Arab world designed to celebrate and support philanthropists for their positive impact on communities. The initiative will award a AED 1 million prize to the winner to help them expand their humanitarian work.

A Mission To Champion Giving

The initiative reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s vision of reinforcing the values of generosity and combating despair by spotlighting those who create positive change. Applications are now open for individuals, volunteer groups, and non-profit organisations driving community-focused efforts.

“Creating hope is the highest and most noble achievement for those seeking to serve their communities,” said H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “Hope makers open the door to dreams and a sense of security. Our Arab world is home to heroes who make us proud, offering daily examples of generosity and dedication in serving others.”

He added, “Today we launch a new edition of the Hope Makers initiative to celebrate the tens of thousands who work away from the spotlight, nurturing trust in a better future. We invite them to participate and encourage everyone to nominate a Hope Maker they know.”

A Legacy of Impact

Operating under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the Arab Hope Makers initiative has received over 320,000 nominations across its past five editions, highlighting a deep-seated culture of giving across the region.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI, commented on the initiative’s success. “Since its launch in 2017, this unique initiative has significantly raised awareness of the impact of both individual and institutional volunteering. It has demonstrated its ability to improve lives, empowering more people to contribute to their communities and plant the seeds of determination and hope.”

Last year’s edition crowned Ahmed Zainoun from Morocco as the top Arab Hope Maker for his initiative to treat children with Xeroderma Pigmentosum, also known as “Children of the Moon.” In a gesture of generosity, Sheikh Mohammed also directed that the two other finalists receive equivalent cash prizes, bringing the total awards to AED 3 million.

The AED 1 Million Call For Nominations

Potential Hope Makers can nominate themselves or be nominated by others through the official website. The initiative seeks to identify unsung heroes with impactful projects, campaigns, or creative initiatives that improve lives, alleviate suffering, or address local challenges on a voluntary, non-profit basis.

The goal is to amplify their stories through various media channels, drive recognition for their work, and provide the most impactful Hope Maker with financial support to scale their efforts. By showcasing these positive role models, the initiative aims to inspire a new generation, particularly youth, toward constructive community development.
